Our Story

The time was very frightening. The entire world was locked down due to the invasion of one of the most ancient organisms on Earth. Towards the end of 2019, a new form of the virus called Corona emerged in the city of Wuhan, China. This virus could spread from one person to another and had an unusually high lethality. With the advancements in communication systems, this virus quickly spread worldwide. Even the science of the 21st century was forced to bow before the power of this microscopic organism. As a result, human interactions ceased, and people became confined to their homes.

Since ancient times, whenever humanity has faced a danger for which there was no known remedy or was beyond the reach of ordinary people, they have resorted to various misinterpretations and superstitions out of fear. This situation was no different. With the help of modern technology and social media, these misinterpretations and various unscientific methods of overcoming the unforeseen danger began to spread like wildfire. Many unscrupulous businesses also took advantage of this situation, selling various unscientific medicines, tonics, etc., to people. People became confused and overwhelmed by the contradictory opinions.

During such a time of universal crisis, a group of scientific researchers felt the need to stand up against this unscientific tendency. From this need, on September 1, 2020, our beloved “Elebele” was born. To fight against pseudoscience and misinformation, this group of researchers chose their mother tongue, Bengali. Through various sections like “Tainaki,” “Alekhya,” “Chalachitra,” and “Choto O Boro Golpo,” we try to present science in an appealing way. Our aim is to make science accessible to the common people, overcoming the barriers of language. While we simplify science to make it accessible, we do so without compromising scientific accuracy.

Elebele was created by a few individuals, and later, many others joined us. The strength of science grew stronger. Besides the Elebele team, many renowned and unknown science writers have contributed to our scientific writing. On our Facebook page, nearly twenty thousand people engage in our Elebele science discussions. We hope that through our collective efforts, one day the light of science will illuminate even the deepest darkness of superstition.
